BMI OFFERS DAILY FLIGHTS TO BERNE, LIÈGE AND ROTTERDAM

The British airline bmi regional has permanently stationed two Embraer 145 aircraft in Munich and will launch new services to three European destinations in the summer timetable period now getting under way.

In cooperation with Lufthansa, it is offering three daily departures to Bern and Rotterdam and two to Liège in Belgium effective immediately. The flights will be operated under a code sharing arrangement with Lufthansa with BM and LH flight numbers.

At present, bmi regional is already flying twice a day to Bristol in the UK. With the new connections, the airline will rise to the number five position in Munich in terms of the number of daily flights available.

On hand to celebrate today’s inaugural flight, Thomas Weyer,  Munich Airport’s CFO and head of Infrastructure, stressed the importance of the new home carrier’s services as feeder flights for long-haul traffic: “The commitment of bmi regional will further enhance the connectivity and appeal of the Munich hub. Passengers from Bern, Liège and Rotterdam now have quick access to many destinations all over the world.”

Addressing the invited guests, Paul Sies, bmi regional’s head of business operations, added: “The new routes are a major step forward for bmi. The Munich hub offers us excellent connections to numerous cities worldwide. We’re confident that these new routes will be very successful for us, and are looking forward to offering our passengers these new travel options in cooperation with Lufthansa.”
