Kenya Tourism Board (KTB) is all set to move a step ahead of their wildlife offerings and promote their golf tourism options to Indian travellers. John Chirchir, Regional Marketing Manager, KTB, revealed that Kenya is home to golf courses of international standards in Mount Kenya, Nairobi and even the coast. In addition, he stated that the Board has received feedback from the Indian market that Kenya’s coastline holds tremendous potential for attracting the Indian travellers, and will be part of the new attractions they will promote this year.
“The coastline has a lot to offer, not just the golf courses and the beaches, but also wildlife that Kenya is famous for. Packaging these activities and offering them to Indians will surely attract footfall. The region has therefore seen a heavy investment from us in the development of the area and the enhancement of their offerings,” added Chirchir.
Speaking about their promotional strategies for the year, Chirchir mentioned the success of their online training programme – Kenya Expert has already received registration of over 300 agents for the training to get better equipped about Kenya’s tourism products and destinations. “For now, it is a purely online training programme, but we are thinking of reinforcing it with offline trainings on a similar module for tier – II cities which are more difficult to reach. We do, however, invite Indian agents to register for the experts’ course which will be good for their career and sales for Kenya. The current module will run for six months and will be updated at a later stage,” he said.
KTB recently visited 200 key decision makers from the Indian travel fraternity in the cities of Kolkata, Hyderabad and Chenna to further strengthen ties, learn about the new potential segments and explore all areas of opportunity, concluded Chirchir.
