IndiGo has turned 17 today! But that’s not all. Not only has it emerged as the biggest Indian carrier, both in terms of fleet and passenger share, the airline now also ranks in the top ten international carrier in terms of number of flights that it operates. It recently made history placing the largest order in aviation history of 500 A320 aircraft, bringing the order book close to 1.000 aircraft.
IndiGo operated it’s inaugural flight from Delhi to Guwahati on August 4, 2006. And this August 4, the carrier will operate over 1900 flights, it’s daily frequency to 79 domestic and some 30 international destinations with its fleet of over 300 aircraft.
It took the carrier until September 1, 2011 to launch its first international flight to the dazzling Dubai. By December 2017, it became the first Indian carrier to operate 1000 flights a day, by September 2022, with the addition of Ras-Al-Khaimah, it was boasting of a network of 100 stations, and come May 2023 it set a new record of carrying 3 lakh passengers.
