Celebrating the completion of its first order of 100 A-320s placed at the Paris Air Show in 2005, IndiGo, has announced the launch of the ‘6E Scholar’ programme in partnership with a globally established NGO, Mensa India.
Marking this milestone, the low cost carrier has decided to sponsor the education and nurturing of 100 underprivileged children whose IQ is at the genius level. Recognised as the world’s oldest and largest high IQ society – Mensa India, along with IndiGo, will identify the children over the next six months for consistent nurturing and mentoring. As part of the 6E scholar programme, Mensa-India will hold the IQ tests to identify children with 98 per cent IQ score. These 6E scholars would further be placed into educational streams best suited to their aptitude.
Expressing his delight on this initiative, Aditya Ghosh, President, IndiGo, said, “The launch of the 6E Scholar programme is our small step towards nurturing needs of the nation’s best minds. Through this initiative, we aim to extend our support to the 100 underprivileged children, and help them meet the adequate requirement of good education by coaching and mentoring them till graduation, in support with our NGO partner, Mensa India. For IndiGo, this initiative marks a double milestone as this coincides with our joy of inducting the 100th Airbus A320 aircraft –This makes the occasion even more special.”
From imparting adequate education to the recruitment placements, this newly formulated program is designed to enable these children to grow not only as 6E scholars but also as individuals who would bring difference to the community.
Having flown over 80 million passengers in over 695,139 flights since launch, IndiGo has achieved immense success in the Indian skies, and continues to show steady growth. The induction of its 100th aircraft, taken ahead of its scheduled delivery i.e. in 2014 – is yet another proof of the low-cost carrier’s commitment to customer experience and growth.
