Ministry of Tourism has undertaken joint development of tourist amenities at Amritsar & Rai Bareilli, Trivandrum, Gaya and Agra Cantt Railway Stations in association with Ministry of Railways. Central Government assistance of Rs.10.28 crores, Rs.5.98 crores, Rs.5.18 crores and Rs.5.05 crores has been provided by the Tourism Ministry for the development of Amritsar & Rai Bareilli, Trivandrum, Gaya and Agra Cantt Railway Stations respectively.
This financial support is being provided as part of an initiative of K.Chiranjeevi, Minister of Tourism to provide assistance to Central agencies for tourism infrastructure development.
As part of the joint initiative, Ministry of Railways shall make land for the project available free of cost and render all possible assistance for completion of the project on time. The Ministry of Railways shall set up a monitoring committee with a member from the Ministry of Tourism to monitor physical and financial progress of the above projects.
