Travelers seeking budget-friendly accommodation options for Christmas and New Year’s Eve have many destinations in Asia to choose from, with Varanasi being the most affordable destination in India with an average room rate of 4136 INR per night.
Hat Yai, Thailand, leads the list as the most affordable on average in Asia with an average room rate of 3883 INR per night, making it the top choice for cost-conscious travelers in late December. Following closely are Surakarta, Indonesia, and Varanasi, India, with rates of 3967 INR and 4136 INR per night, respectively. These destinations provide a mix of cultural experiences and scenic beauty, perfect for holiday celebrations.
Agoda looked at the room rates of the ten most popular cities in each of the nine analyzed markets. Since the rank is based on averages, deal hunters are likely to find even lower rates in these and other destinations on Agoda.
First is Hat Yai, Thailand, with an average room rate of INR 3,883, offers a lively atmosphere during the holiday season, featuring markets and festive street food, especially at the Kim Yong Market for last-minute Christmas shopping.
Second is Surakarta, Indonesia, with an average room rate of INR 3,967, is known for its Keraton Surakarta and the Pasar Gede market, offering traditional performances and local delicacies for a culturally immersive holiday experience.
Third comes Varanasi, India, with an average room rate of INR 4,136, blends spirituality and celebration, especially at the Ganges River, which is adorned with lights and festivities at year’s end.
Fourth is Dalat, Vietnam, with an average room rate of INR 5,234, becomes a festive haven with Christmas and New Year’s Eve celebrations, adding to its charm with twinkling lights.
Fifth is Miri, Malaysia, with an average room rate of INR 5,487, may not be a typical Christmas destination, but its natural beauty and cultural diversity make it a relaxing holiday spot.
Sixth is Subic, the Philippines, with an average room rate of INR 7,260, comes alive with extended Christmas celebrations and family-friendly attractions along the coast.
Seventh is Taitung, Taiwan, with an average room rate of INR 8,441, offers a scenic and culturally rich destination where visitors can enjoy the first sunrise of the year and large-scale music festivals.
Eighth is Nagoya, Japan, with an average room rate of INR 9,201, is known for its winter illuminations and festive markets, providing a unique holiday experience.
Last one on the list is Yeosu-si, South Korea, with an average room rate of INR 10,805, offers attractions like Odongdo Island, the Yeosu Maritime Cable Car, and the La Terrace Winter Village theme park, creating a magical Christmas atmosphere.
