Ashok Lavasa, special secretary in the power ministry, has been appointed as the new civil aviation secretary to take over from incumbent K N Srivastava. The appointments committee of the Cabinet approved the appointment earlier this week, officials said.
A 1980 batch IAS officer of the Haryana cadre, Lavasa would commence his duties on 1 January, a day after Srivastava retires.
The civil aviation ministry is also set to appoint a director general of civil aviation (DGCA) soon, as Arun Mishra takes over as the head of the UN watchdog international civil aviation organization’s (ICAO) new regional director for the Asia-Pacific region.
