Seychelles Tourism Board (STB) and Air Seychelles have teamed up to support the filming of Rocky Handsome, a Bollywood action thriller set in Seychelles. This project marks the return of Bollywood to Seychelles after two decades. Key scenes in the movie, including a romantic song duet, featuring the film’s lead actors, John Abraham and Shruti Hassan, were shot in the Seychelles.
Lubaina Sheerazi, COO, Blue Square Consultants, Seychelles Tourist Office – India said, “The Seychelles archipelago has some of the most scenic island backdrops in the world, and we are thrilled that it will be featured in Rocky Handsome. This film, which has two of the biggest names in contemporary Bollywood cinema, will bring enormous exposure to the destination and enhance its reputation as an excellent filming location. Seychelles is pitched to be the next hot-spot filming location for the Indian film and entertainment industry. The islands are easy to access for Indian travellers, with free visa on arrival. Rocky Handsome will also support our strong marketing efforts in the Indian market, which has resulted in around 125 per cent growth in the number of tourist arrivals from India during Jan-May 2015 compared to the same period in 2014.”
Roy Kinnear, Chief Executive Officer, Air Seychelles said, “We were delighted to support the production of the major feature film Rocky Handsome, by flying actors, crew and equipment between Seychelles and India. As an enabler in the Seychellois economy, Air Seychelles plays a key role in driving inbound tourism. This exciting project will provide important exposure in the Indian market.”
