K Chiranjeevi has been sworn in as the Minister of State with Independent Charge for Tourism, Government of India. He replaced Subodh Kant Sahai, who recently resigned from the post of Union Minister for Tourism. The travel fraternity expects that the success story he scripted in Tollywood will be repeated for the tourism industry as well to take India’s tourism to a newer heights. Tourism is not new for the new minister. He has already participated in a couple of tourism events. He attended the national workshop to initiate “Clean India Campaign’ of the Ministry of Tourism and offered his whole -hearted support to it. He will continue to follow Sahai’s tourism policies, and work towards achieving the Ministry’s goal of having one per cent share in global inbound arrivals. Chiranjeevi addressed the media immediately after the swearing-in ceremony where he said that he will put all his efforts for overall development and promotion of Indian tourism. He said that he will ‘shoulder the responsibility’ to the best of his ability to justify the confidence reposed on him by the Prime Minister and the ruling party.
