Cyprus Tourism Organisation (CTO), which recently forayed in India, is looking at tapping the potential of Indian MICE, especially incentives, and wedding markets. “We are constantly on the lookout for new business activities in newer growth markets with high potential for growth. As a new destination with well developed infrastructure for MICE activities, we can assist corporates with business solutions for their conference and event needs,” Vassillis Theocharides, Director, CTO, said at a media briefing in New Delhi. Apart from Theocharides, the interaction featured Rona-Marie Panteli, Deputy High Commissioner, Cyprus High Commission in Delhi and Hussain Abdul Rahman, Country Manager India, Gulf Air.
According to him, CTO will identify tour operators who can send large groups to Cyprus and would jointly undertake marketing campaigns with them in the Indian market. “In such joint promotions and advertising, CTO will bear 75 per cent of the cost, while the remaining 25 per cent will have to be borne by the partner agency,” he added.
Speaking on the wedding segment, he said that Cyprus is a popular wedding destination for the Middle East and UK markets. “We have a dedicated website to promote weddings. Many events and weddings can be organised around archaeological and historical sites like Kourion and Amathous,” he said.
