Ethiopian Airlines, the fastest growing and most profitable airline in Africa, recently launched an additional daily flight from the New Delhi to Addis Ababa, taking the total number of departures from the country to 28 per week. To celebrate the additional frequency, Ethiopian also announced some attractive introductory offers for Indian travelers and travel trade. The carrier offers an additional 3% commission on IATA fare to travel agents and buys one, get one for travelers till May 31.
“Ethiopian Airlines is already operating double daily flights out of Mumbai. Now we have Delhi joining the bandwagon. With double daily flights out of Delhi from March 27, 2016, the capacity ex India has increased by 100 percent. Way to go for the airline,” Tadesse Tilahun, Regional Director – India Sub Continent, said at a press conference to announce celebration of its 70th anniversary since its inception on April 8, 1946.
He opined that Ethiopian has great interest to expand in India. “We recently got our additional bilateral. We are also exploring the possibility of starting operations from Chennai and Bengaluru in the near future,” he said adding that the airline has seen over 77 per cent load factor on its Delhi route.
Mahlet Kebede, Manager Traffic and Sales Manager New Delhi said “Any passenger flying Ethiopian on this route is indirectly taking part in a history of 30 years of service. These flights have helped create business possibilities and convenient connectivity.” She added, “If you look into the history of Ethiopian flights to New Delhi, you are leafing through decades of networking, close businesses relationships and shared success stories.”
