Himachal Pradesh Tourism Development Corporation (HPTDC) is looking to develop several helipads in the state to increase charter arrivals. The state has identified new sites for the same and the Chief Minister has also revealed his attempts to try and develop the airports in Simla, Kangda and Kulu, said CS Rangta, Deputy General Manager, HPTDC. “We are in talks with charter companies to increase arrivals to the state, and are even in the process of signing an MoU with Pawan Hans and a few other companies for the same,” he said.
The state witnessed 10-11 per cent growth in domestic tourism arrivals in the last one year. Keeping this growth in numbers in mind, HPTDC is also set to rope in private players to help with the management of quality accommodation in the state. The Corporation currently operates 58 hotels across Himachal Pradesh and is seeking the help of the private industry to manage some of these properties.
Speaking about their marketing plans, Rangta added that HPTDC will be attending international fairs to help promote the state among foreign tourists as well. “Our Buddhist Circuit and Manali Circuit are being promoted for their monasteries. Kaza the cold desert will also be highlighted as a tourist destination. In India, we are planning radio promotions before the summer holidays and regional holidays to drive in seasonal traffic. We have 15 GSAs so far and are looking for newer partnerships to increase our reach across India this year,” concluded Rangta.
