The Telly Calendar 2014 was launched amidst Indian celebrities and Tourism Malaysia officials at a glittering ceremony in Mumbai recently. Shot extensively in Malaysia, this was the first international shoot of the Telly Calendar. The calendar features 12 popular small-screen actresses.
Speaking of Tourism Malaysia’s association with the Telly Calendar, Manoharan Periasamy, Director, Tourism Malaysia said, “Malaysia has always been popular among Indians and with VMY 2014 (Visit Malaysia Year 2014) activities in full swing, we are looking at innovative ways to reach out to the discerning Indian traveller. Having seen the popularity of television celebrities in India especially in the Tier II and Tier III towns, we felt the Telly Calendar was an interesting route to take Malaysia to their millions of fans; introduce them to the beauty and diversity of the country. Also, Malaysia has the best of both worlds, modern architecture and an ample share of natural scenic beauty. This added to the excellence in the shoot of the calendar.”
Speaking on the sidelines of the event, Periasamy lauded the calendar as an excellent platform to promote the destination, especially the lesser-visited cities of Putrajaya and Melaka, which have provided the backdrop for some of the calendar pictures.
