Dubai-based Lama Tours has recorded an 11 per cent growth in the first quarter of 2013, and aims to close the year with a 25-26 per cent growth overall. This information was provided by Kulwant Singh, Managing Director, Lama Tours, following the success of the company’s 11th annual roadshow in India. “This was our 11th year and the response has been seen with the growth of our business year after year from India as a result of these activities. We covered four cities this year, namely Mumbai, Delhi, Bangalore and Chennai with one of the largest ever delegations we have brought to the country,” he said.
The delegation consisted of 25 hoteliers with some of them representing more than hotels in the group they were representing. This year, the roadshow also featured a summer special to highlight over 40 hotels for the coming summer vacations for the Indian travellers. The bookings and response, Singh stated, have been very encouraging.
Singh further revealed that the company plans to increase the frequency of its visits to India to tap the market further. “There are plans for a tier II city roadshow to further penetrate that market. We will be visiting India in smaller groups every couple of months to stay connected with the travel trade. The agenda will be to bring in smaller delegations more frequently. Also, we will represent the company in as many exhibitions and fairs possible, host FAM trips and smaller business delegations to Dubai and, finally, create awareness through the media,” revealed Singh.
