LAN Airlines has carried out its first test of a new wireless onboard entertainment system, called in-wireless. This is the latest step in raising the standards of onboard entertainment as LAN begins to evaluate wireless IFE technology with the purpose of including it on its fleet within South America in the coming years.
The first demonstration of the system was carried out in an Airbus A320 aircraft on a flight between Santiago, Chile and Mendoza, Argentina. There were close to 160 passengers on board who followed simple instructions to access the in-wireless platform, and had the opportunity to test the new system on multiple devices such as tablets, smartphones and laptops.
“We have found that passengers on short flights are looking to access entertainment and content on their own devices. The new in-wireless platform provides passengers with access to our IFE in a more convenient manner. In addition, it allows us to reach the largest number of devices and to improve the experiences of passengers flying within LAN in South America.” said Paula Duran Senior Manager In Flight Entertainment and On Board Media LATAM Airlines Group.
