GVK Mumbai International Airport Limited (MIAL), the company that administers the Chhatrapati Shivaji International Airport (CSIA), celebrated the 11th Passengers Day, a unique initiative started by the airport in order to create a tradition of appreciation towards passengers.
Both the domestic and international terminals of the airport wore a carnival-like look as enthusiastic passengers participated in interactive games and activities. Tarot Card Reading, Karaoke, and Instant Photo Booth were some of the initiatives that kept passengers busy during their wait at the airport.
Jugglers, Stilt Walkers, Live Statue Artists and Street Magicians performing at different locations at both terminals were a visual treat for the passengers at the airport. A live guitarist created the perfect ambience for the celebrations, taking the passengers into a different world with soothing music.
Since its inception in 2006, MIAL has consistently expressed its gratitude to its loyal passengers, through various initiatives to provide a seamless and superlative experience. Terminal 2 is home to ‘Jaya He’, India’s largest public art programme, which showcases over 7000 pieces of artwork sourced from the various regions of the country. CSIA also hosts one of the largest airport retail spreads in the country, offering its passengers a range of premium luxury brands across categories. The food and beverage section too has a variety of cuisines to cater to the tastes of every passenger.
While these initiatives have received warmly encouraging feedback from the customers themselves, MIAL has also earned several prestigious awards and accolades in these past 11 years, the most recent being the ACI Airport Service Quality Award 2016 for World’s Second Best Airport, and the Skytrax World Airport Award 2017 for Best Airport Staff Service, among others.
With over 46 international airlines in operation, the airport sees close to 12.4 million international passengers in a year and over 45 million passengers annually. Handling 900+ flight movements on a single runway every day, the Mumbai International Airport is indubitably a key gateway to India, offering travellers connectivity to various destinations across the globe.
