Recognising India as one of the importance source market for outbound tourism, Nancy Powell, US Ambassador to India, recently inaugurated the Brand USA pavilion at the recently concluded SATTE 2014. “It is exciting to be at this event celebrating SATTE 2014, which has grown to become one of the premier tourism exhibitions in the region,” the Ambassador said.
According to her, it is indeed a pleasure to promote travel and tourism to the USA. “In 2013, we welcomed approximately 700,000 visitors from India. Indian travelers are visiting our great states of California, Florida, Nevada, and New York, and they are experiencing the beauty of parks like Yellowstone or Yosemite. Others are taking their families to destinations like Disney World and Sea World. Have to fault the Brand USA folks for not highlighting my home state of Iowa,” she added.
She further added that the US Embassy in New Delhi was participating in this event to help facilitate Indian travelers visiting the United Sates. “I am proud to say that the Commercial and Consular Sections collaborate as a team on this important initiative to expand travel to the U.S,” she added.
In a release issued by the Embassy, travel and tourism to the US are important ways for to expand our cultural and commercial ties and increase trade between our countries. “But the most important aspect of travel and tourism is not the dollar figures, but the person-to-person relationships that are cultivated. We will continue to find more ways to make travel from India to the U.S. as simple as possible. I look forward to working with the travel agency community on this very important effort to support U.S. travel, and I hope that you find the SATTE show informative and enjoyable,” she added.
