New team takes helm at MoT

The Ministry of Tourism (MoT) has a completely new team. We have a new Tourism Minister, K Chiranjeevi; a new Secretary, Parvez Dewan, and a few more high level appointments recently in the Ministry of Tourism. While the Minister has taken the charge just few days ago, the Secretary joined the ministry in the first week of October. Chiranjeevi has a keen interest in tourism and Dewan is quite an experienced hand in tourism sector. The industry is quite optimistic that the present team will give a new dimension to Indian tourism. We, at T3, welcome the new team at MoT.

We have seen a number of initiatives taken by the ministry under the leadership of Ex-Tourism Minister Subodh Kant Sahai in the recent past. These tasks are ongoing and still unfinished and need an innovative and strategic approach to achieve success. Initiatives such as Hunar se Rojgar programme, Clean India Campaign, Safe and Honourable Tourism and the promotion of Medical and Wellness tourism, among others, are recent legacies. Each one of these is credit worthy and requires a greater amount of effort to meet the desired results. With the new team, there will be continuity in the implementation of these programmes in an accelerated manner. The industry expects infusion of momentum for the overall development and promotion of tourism in the country.

We all know that the tourism industry in India today stands poised for unprecedented growth in the coming years. Sahai, along with his team, made serious attempts to make tourism the main political and economic agenda of state governments due to its proven role in stimulating inclusive economic growth, employment generation and social integration. The ministry had also set a goal to double the share of India tourism in the global tourism market and T3 believes that the new team will be able to achieve this by thinking proactively, innovatively and remaining competitive.

We set new goalposts and the quest is never ending. we at T3 are quite confident that the present team will bring in a fresh approach in its strategies and realign them with the latest global trends. The MoT has always stressed on working together with stakeholders of the industry with an innovative mind and positive approach for the development of India’s tourism in a sustainable and responsible manner.
