NYC & Company is leading a tourism delegation to Mumbai and New Delhi from 23-27 September to promote travel to New York City. The goal is to highlight travel to New York City’s five boroughs—Manhattan, Brooklyn, Queens, The Bronx and Staten Island. Four NYC member companies, Broadway Collection, Empire State Building, Madame Tussauds and New York Water Taxi will be part of the delegation, to conduct one-one meetings and workshops with various travel trade partners and attend the Brand USA roadshow.
“New York City welcomed an estimated 215,000 visitors from India in 2012, reflecting a growth of 5.0 per cent since the previous year and 2013 is shaping up to be another excellent year. The City has a 29 per cent percent market share of all India travel to the U.S., the highest in the nation,” shared Fred Dixon, Executive Vice President, Market Development, NYC & Company, who is accompanying the delegation.
In 2012, New York City welcomed a record 52 million visitors, a new all-time high. Visitors to the City generated an estimated US$55.3 billion in economic impact to the local economy, with direct spending reaching US$36.9 billion. New York City continues to be the number one United States travel destination for overseas travel, showing an increase in overseas market share from 28 per cent to 33 per cent market share – over the last seven years. NYC & Company has established a new tourism goal to achieve 55 million visitors annually and US$70 billion in economic impact by 2015.
