In 2014, Philippines welcomed more Indian tourists. It saw an increase of 15 per cent in Indian tourist arrivals in from January through October. The Indian market is of the most important contributors and shows strong sign of increase in tourist arrivals for coming years.
The Philippines is engrossed in vigorous marketing campaigns and promoting the destination in the Indian market. The Department of Tourism, Philippines has already declared 2015 as the “Visit The Philippines Year” for a boost in tourism of the country which will feature a calendar of events and an exciting mix of activities.
On 29 January 2015, Philippines Tourism Marketing Office, India is all set to host Ramon R. Jimenez JR., Tourism Secretary, Philippines. The main agenda of his two-day visit is to launch ‘Visit The Philippines year 2015’ campaign in India and will address the industry partners.
Apart from all the assorted movements chartered by the Philippines Tourism Marketing Office, India, the 13th Philippine Travel Exchange (PHITEX) and Philippines India Exchange (PHILINDEX) in September 2014 were in spotlight. Furthermore, the DOT participated in the Outbound Travel Mart (OTM) 2014 in Mumbai and Delhi, and is set to participate in the upcoming SATTE 2015 as well. To target tier II and III cities, they are also planning to indulge in marketing activities in 2015 to attract more Indian travellers.
Keeping in mind to acknowledge Philippines as one the best wedding destinations, the DOT recently organised a familiarisation trip for wedding planners at the end of 2014. Philippines is becoming a destination of choice amongst the Indian couples and adventure enthusiasts.
