RidingSolo, an adrenaline-driven adventure agency, took an initiative to set up a dustbin en route to many Himalayan winter trek which will lead to #NoTrashTrails. Trekking and climbing trails in the Himalayas have suffered long from the rubbish discarded by walkers.
The initiative worked well and it’s now getting overwhelmed by the sheer number of irresponsible visitors. The rubbish is spread across the Himalayas. Every year more than lakhs of climbers and their guides used to trek and climb trails and leave trash behind. For the past few years, volunteers have been doing a clean-up, but that is proving inadequate.
Bhanwer Singh Rajpurohit, Director of RidingSolo said; “Riding Solo is one such organisation which provides you with safe and unforgettable memories. Keeping Dreams and the Beauty of the Himalayas in mind we specially set up dustbins for collecting the waste every season. You can see how paper, plastic, polythene and glass bottles everything is dumped in the bins with wet waste. The leaving behind of self-generated waste by visitors to the trails and expedition areas of the world’s mountains is one of the most adverse features of adventure tourism. We need your support in this initiative by making you understand how much this bad habit is affecting our nature.”
