Brazilian based TAM Airlines has requested authorisation from the National Civil Aviation Agency (ANAC) to operate an additional 1,000 flights, both domestic and international, during June and July of 2014. The airline’s goal is to meet the demand from both Brazilian and international passengers in light of the expected changes in the country’s passenger flows during the period.
Claudia Sender, TAM Airline’s CEO said that the airline has always been committed to Brazil’s development. “We made a large request for additional flights to meet passenger demand based on the geographic distribution of host cities and match dates. The investment required to operate these flights should exceed R$50 million. In addition to transporting passengers within Brazil, TAM will reinforce its operation to bring international tourists by requesting an additional of more than 200 international flights into the country during the period,” she stated.
The network to be operated between June and July 2014 should lead to temporary changes to the map of the airline’s regular flight operations. If TAM’s proposal is fully approved, the tournament’s host cities will be served by more flights operated by the airline.
