The Tourism Authority of Thailand yesterday released a statement that the proposal for Thailand to charge international visitors an entry fee is still pending a Cabinet approval. The idea, which is proposed by the Minister of Public Health, Pradit Sintavanarong, is also still to be discussed in details among the Ministry of Public Health, the Ministry of Tourism and Sports, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the Ministry of Labour, the Immigration Bureau, the Office of the National Security Council and other related government agencies.
“Thailand continues to welcome tourists arriving at all international checkpoints – airports, border crossings and seaports (cruise and yacht tourists) – without any entry fee. However, foreign tourists are still required to have a valid visa. The Tourism Authority of Thailand is monitoring the entry-fee proposal, and will inform all travellers as the situation becomes clearer,” the statement said.
