Visitors can now learn about the origins of the martial art Muay Thai, and see exciting displays in nightly shows that will take place at ASIATIQUE The Riverfront, Bangkok’s new cultural hub starting 15 January, 2014, at 20.00 hrs. Through a combination of fascinating history and amazing athleticism, Muay Thai Live – The Legend Lives explores the roots of Thailand’s ancient martial art and brings to life over 300 years of history. Visitors will be entertained with a dazzling combination of hyper-real Muay Thai fights, breathtaking stunts and sweeping drama that will both educate and enthrall.
Muay Thai Live – The Legend Lives acts as a showcase for Thai boxing as a national art and a treasure of the kingdom’s heritage. Muay Thai is becoming a trend in India with many young people practicing the martial art as a more recreational form of personal fitness as compared to straightforward gym routines.
Suraphon Svetasreni, Governor, Tourism Authority of Thailand (TAT) said, “Muay Thai has enjoyed massive popularity around the word in recent years and many young men and women come here to train in the art with local Muay Thai masters. Now the Muay Thai Live – The Legend Lives attraction at ASIATIQUE gives everyone the chance to learn more about this ancient art and its origins which are an important part of the kingdom’s culture.”
Sethaphan Buddhani, Director, TAT – Mumbai Office stated, “I foresee the Indian traveller thoroughly enjoying this new attraction. It incorporates entertainment and drama which will be attractive to all sections of the market – from group travellers, to families and groups of young people and even the educational travel segment. Especially since over 60 per cent of arrivals are repeat visitors, new attractions are widely appreciated.”
TAT Mumbai plans to partner with The Club Mumbai to host a Muay Thai camp in March 2014. “I think it’s a great idea to capitalise on the popularity that this ancient martial art form has gained in India. Traveller’s from more mature markets already add a day (sometimes a few days) of Muay Thai training to their itinerary so as to have a more wholesome, culturally-entrenched Thailand experience,” Buddhani added.
