Hanshin Contents Link Corporation has announced the grand opening of The Sumo Hall Hirakuza Osaka, located on the 8th floor of NAMBA Parks in the vibrant Namba district of Osaka. This new venue is easily accessible from Namba Station and offers an immersive sumo entertainment experience, blending traditional Japanese culture with modern entertainment. In 2023, the number of Inbound tourists to Japan has recovered to about 80% of pre-pandemic levels (2019), with a growing interest in experiential consumption, especially in Japan’s unique traditional culture and cuisine. Following this situation, Hanshin Contents Link Corporation has decided to open “The Sumo Hall Hirakuza Osaka” to provide a new experiential spot for foreign tourists to engage with Japanese culture.
The experiential Sumo shows showcase performances by former professional sumo wrestlers, interactive sessions, and photo opportunities. One can experience a unique blend of sumo, food, and entertainment, including traditional bento boxes with options for premium, halal, and vegan meals. The State-of-the-Art Facility features include full-size dohyo (sumo ring), theater-style seating, advanced video, lighting, and sound systems and Gift Shop (Sumo merchandise and Japanese Souvenirs).
In response to the rising interest in Japan’s unique cultural experiences among inbound tourists, Hanshin Contents Link Corporation leverages its expertise in entertainment to create a venue that showcases sumo wrestling. This initiative aims to boost local tourism and provide unforgettable cultural experiences. The sumo show, conducted in English, features spectacular and intense performances by former sumo wrestlers,” said a statement by Japan National Tourism Organization (JNTO).
