The latest installment of “Transformers: Rise of the Beasts” not only showcases the world the paradisiacal landscapes and ancient culture that Peru has to offer but also positions Peru as an attractive destination for film locations.
Machu Picchu, Sacsayhuamán, Abra Málaga, Maras, Chinchero in Cusco, as well as Alto Shilcayo, Cascadas La Unión, Shapaja, and Ahuashiyacu waterfall in Tarapoto, are some of the settings that we can appreciate in the film directed by Steven Caple Jr. We hope that after its worldwide release, it will increase the number of visitors, both domestic and foreign.
In the past two years, thanks to Commission for the Promotion of Peru for Exports and Tourism (PROMPERÚ) and its Film In Peru strategy, Peru has welcomed renowned international production companies that have filmed feature films, short films, series, and documentaries, which have garnered worldwide acclaim, such as “Queen of the South,” “Don’t Look Up,” “Dora and the Lost City,” among others. These productions highlight the country’s scenery, culture, gastronomy, and variety of microclimates.
Undoubtedly, the use of Peruvian film locations in audiovisual productions not only contributes to showcasing this country and its different regions but also attracts foreign investment, generating a direct economic impact on the tourism sector, among other related services such as catering, wardrobe, production, cultural managers, transportation, hospitality, and many more.
The Peruvian territory allows for the telling of all kinds of stories, facilitating the creation of new attractions and places, cities, and regions that could be visited by more and more tourists. Movie enthusiasts are more active in sharing their travel experiences on social media (+27%) and have a higher rate of recommendations after their visit (+6%) compared to average visitors.
Peru is history, nature, culture and adventure. It is a country with a valuable archaeological heritage of ancient civilizations. Peru is a melting pot of races and living cultures that possess a rich folklore that merges music, dances, and traditional celebrations that have transcended time.
That is why PROMPERÚ showcases Peru as an attractive destination for Film Locations and offers an unforgettable filming experience to those who choose to invest in this country.
