UP Tourism enhances developments of Prayagraj’s historic temples for Mahakumbh 2025

The state government has allocated substantial funds for the expansion, beautification, and infrastructure development of tourism sites in Prayagraj

The preparations for Mahakumbh 2025 in Prayagraj are progressing swiftly, with the Department of Tourism spearheading comprehensive developmental initiatives. Recognizing the profound religious significance of local temples, efforts are underway to enhance their beauty and provide essential amenities for visiting pilgrims.

As pilgrims immerse themselves in faith during Mahakumbh, they often visit local temples for prayers and rituals. To accommodate these devotees, developmental projects are advancing rapidly across various temples in Sangam City. The state government has allocated substantial funds for the expansion, beautification, and infrastructure development of tourism sites in Prayagraj.

The temples undergoing development and beautification include:

Shooltankeshwar Temple, Arail: Approximately INR 1.28 crore has been allocated for boundary walls, gates, signages, flooring, benches, and RO water systems.

Dashashwamedh Temple, Daraganj: Development and beautification work amounting to approximately INR 2 crore is underway.

Dwadash Madhav Temple: Development and beautification work amounting to approximately INR 12.34 crore includes gate construction, boundary walls, RO water systems, and other essential facilities.

Pandeshwarnath Dham Temple: Development and beautification work amounting to approximately INR 9.30 crore includes boundary walls, corridors, tourist sheds renovation, and high-mast lights.

Bharadwaj Ashram: Development and beautification work amounting to approximately INR 13.36 crore includes CC roads, interlocking, boundary walls, Bharat Kund, gates, tourist sheds, and other necessary facilities.

Durvasa Ashram, Kakara Dubaval: Approximately INR 1.11 crore is being spent on infrastructure and tourism development facilities including gates, RO rooms, RCC slabs, signage, toilet renovation, front boundary wall, pathways, etc.

Kalyani Devi Temple: Development work is progressing with an investment of approximately INR 97.73 lakhs for gate construction, tourist sheds, boundary walls, murals, drinking water provision, stone flooring, dustbins, stone carving, and benches.

Koteshwar Mahadev Temple: Development and beautification work for the Aarti sthal with an expenditure of approximately INR 2.19 crore includes gates, Aarti sthal, water provision, toilets, drains, LED streetlights, stone flooring, dustbins, stone carving, and benches.

Barahkhandi Mahadev Temple, Saidpur: Tourism development work is being carried out at an approximate cost of INR 1.09 crore.

Takshak Teerth Temple, Dariyabad: Beautification work is underway with an investment of approximately INR 1.73 crore.

Nagvasuki Temple: Facade lighting and beautification work costing approximately INR 1.45 crore.

Shaktipeeth Alopi Devi Temple: Facade lighting and beautification work costing approximately INR 1.67 crore.

Shankar Vimana Mandapam Temple: Facade lighting and beautification work costing approximately INR 3.56 crore.

Hanuman Ji Temple, Civil Lines: Facade lighting and beautification work costing approximately INR 1.01 crore.

Pertaining to the ongoing development initiatives ahead of Mahakumbh 2025 and focusing on the bigger picture, the Minister of tourism and Culture, Uttar Pradesh, Jaiveer Singh, stated, “As we prepare for Mahakumbh 2025, our focus remains steadfast on enhancing the spiritual and cultural experience for all pilgrims visiting Prayagraj. The developmental projects underway at various historic temples reflect our commitment to preserving our rich heritage and providing modern amenities to facilitate a seamless pilgrimage experience. These efforts are pivotal in showcasing Prayagraj as pivot of spiritual enlightenment and cultural vibrancy. We invite devotees from around the world to join us in this auspicious event and witness the transformation of our sacred sites into more accessible and aesthetically pleasing destinations.”
