Vietjet has announced it will launch the first direct flights from Vietnam to India. The move was announced at the recent Vietnam–India Business Forum, with the first flights expected to depart in the third quarter of this year. The move is set to create bigger opportunities for the airline as there are currently no direct flights from India to Vietnam. The announcement was witnessed by Tran Dai Quang, President of Vietnam, and senior leaders of Vietnam and India.
The deal also marks a significant milestone for the countries in light of the 45th anniversary of diplomatic relations between Vietnam and India and the tenth anniversary of strategic partnership between the two.
The first route is scheduled to connect Ho Chi Minh City with New Delhi on a basis of four flights per week. India has the second largest population in the world, making it a huge potential market for Vietjet in the future.
The introduction of the new route thus presents Vietjet with an opportunity to not only tap into the growing tourism market but also facilitate trade integration and exchange between Vietnam and India.
