The first of its kind Pranaam GVK service introduced at the Chhatrapati Shivaji International Airport (CSIA), Mumbai, has garnered encouraging response since its inception in February 2012. According to Rekha Nair, Head Airport Services, CSIA, over the past one year, Pranaam has witnessed an impressive growth of 15-20 per cent month on month. By the end of FY 2014-15, Pranaam had already catered to about 8,500 guests through both B2B and B2C channels.
“Pranaam Services are customised to passengers’ requirements. We have plans to bundle up various other offerings such as hotel bookings, limo services, and exclusive holiday packages etc. through our partners. We will be shortly launching individual and corporate membership programmes. Development of a loyalty programme is also underway. Regarding expansion, we are open to take the concept to airports in India and abroad,” she said.
GVK’s immediate aim, however, is to expand its customer base. Judging by its current rate of growth, Nair expects that the Pranaam GVK service will soon be catering to 500 to 600 air travellers a day.
She further stated that the company has been working closely with the Indian travel trade in India and abroad for promoting and introducing Pranaam Services in potential markets. “Pranaam Services enhance the overall travel experience of domestic as well as international air travel and basically works as an extended arm of our travel trade partners at Mumbai airport. We also provide customised service offerings to travel and trade partners for facilitating VIPs as well as group travellers at the airport,” Nair explained.
GVK has been using media channels for popularising this service among air travellers while keeping technology as the key enablers. The focus is on digital/e-commerce platform, OOH advertising and reaching customers through print media, revealed Nair.
