The Uttar Pradesh Tourism and Culture Department is taking proactive measures to enhance the capabilities of the Tourism Police to ensure the safety and security of the ever-growing number of visitors to the state. A three-day training program was organized at the Manyavar Kanshiram Institute of Tourism Management in Lucknow to equip the tourism police with essential skills to handle emergencies and assist tourists effectively.
The training session from September 19 to 21 focused on multiple aspects, including effective communication with tourists, emergency response, and health care. The third batch of the training had participants from tourist destinations such as Agra, Mathura, Chitrakoot, Jhansi, Lucknow, and Varanasi. Prior to this, similar sessions were conducted in the months of July and August 2024.
During the training, participants receive guidance on maintaining health and hygiene, first aid, yoga, and meditation, as well as strategies for maintaining public safety and handling emergency situations.
Jaiveer Singh, Minister of Tourism and Culture, Uttar Pradesh, emphasized the importance of these training sessions. “The Tourism Police have been established to provide security, assistance, and promote tourist destinations across the state. Given the significant increase in tourist numbers, we are preparing them to meet new challenges and provide an enhanced experience to visitors,” he stated.
“These sessions have been curated to build a responsive and compassionate tourism police force. Since these tourists also involve inbound travelers, the tourism police need to be better prepared to address a diverse range of issues and facilitate travelers”, added Singh.
The state has seen an encouraging surge in tourism in recent years. In 2023 alone, Uttar Pradesh welcomed over 480 million domestic and international tourists. This year, between January and June, the state has already received around 32 crore visitors, indicating a faster growth rate than the previous year.
