The devotees will experience the legendary Samudra Manthan through digital displays at the museum, which will also highlight other religious landmarks, including Kumbh and Mahakumbh.
With just three months left for the Mahakumbh 2025 in Prayagraj, the government is working diligently to ensure a magnificent and divine event. In a significant initiative, the tourism department is gearing up to construct a ‘Digital Kumbh Museum’ in the city, where devotees will be able to witness the legendary Samudra Manthan through digital displays. The museum will also provide insights into other religious and spiritual landmarks, including Kumbh and Mahakumbh.
Tourism and Culture Minister, Jaiveer Singh, stated while sharing this development, “Uttar Pradesh is rapidly developing in the tourism sector, and Mahakumbh 2025 represents both an opportunity and a challenge. The Tourism Department is consistently working to offer a unique experience to pilgrims. As part of this endeavour, a digital kumbh museum will be built near Shivala Park, on Arail Road in Naini, Prayagraj. A budget of INR 21.38 crore has been sanctioned for the project, out of which INR 6 crore has already been released. The museum will cover an area of 10,000 square meters, accommodating up to 2500 visitors at once.”
The digital museum will feature a gallery displaying the Samudra Manthan, with 14 gems symbolizing the event. Advanced digital platforms will provide in-depth information about this ancient tale, along with detailed exhibits on the Mahakumbh in Prayagraj and other prominent Kumbh festivals in Haridwar, Nashik, and Ujjain. The museum will also include landscaped gardens, a ticket counter, and other amenities to enhance the visitor experience.
The minister emphasized, “Our aim is to ensure that pilgrims visiting the Mahakumbh leave with a memorable and unique experience. The government is continuously working towards improving facilities for bathing, meditation, sightseeing, worship, and accommodation. In addition to the Mahakumbh, we are also focusing on the overall development of Prayagraj’s religious and spiritual sites.”
This project is part of the state’s broader vision to provide pilgrims and tourists with an immersive and spiritual journey during the Mahakumbh 2025.
