The training program expected to commence in November 2024, will run for a duration of 6 months and cover a wide range of topics preparing the participants to contribute to the growth of the hospitality sector.

Indian Hotels Company (IHCL) has announced a strategic partnership with the Indian Institute of Technology Jammu (IITJMU) to upskill and empower youth in the field of HVAC technology. The comprehensive training program is aimed at equipping youth in the community with the skills necessary to excel in the hospitality industry.

Speaking on the occasion, Gaurav Pokhariyal, Executive Vice President – Human Resources, IHCL said, “Guided by our ESG+ framework of Paathya, IHCL’s skilling programmes are a powerful step towards bridging the employability gap in the industry and creating meaningful opportunities. The program empowers the youth to build successful careers and positively contribute to the socio-economic development of the region.”

“IIT Jammu is committed to translating state of the art technologies for the benefit of society as well as empowering the youth of Jammu and Kashmir,” Prof. Manoj Gaur, Director, IIT Jammu, added, “we are happy to work with IHCL to enable young students to become efficient operators of state-of-the-art complex HVAC systems.”

This initiative, conducted at IIT Jammu’s Cooling Innovation Labs training facility, will focus on providing hands-on training in modern HVAC infrastructure operation and maintenance. IHCL will support 100 students for the program, ensuring they have access to this valuable opportunity.

The training program expected to commence in November 2024, will run for a duration of 6 months and cover a wide range of topics preparing the participants to contribute to the growth of the hospitality sector.

Notably, IHCL partners and operates 35 skill centres across 15 states in India and is committed to train 1,00,000 youth by 2030.
