India Tourism Development Corporation (ITDC), the public sector undertaking under the aegis of the Ministry of Tourism, Government of India, conducted a workshop for the benefit of trade and industry by sensitizing them about proposed Goods and Services Tax: Model Law and procedures at The Ashok, Flagship property of ITDC. The workshop was broadcasted live to all the subsidiary companies/vendors outside Delhi. The video and queries regarding GST would be uploaded on ITDC website to ease the interaction and resolve queries.
The GST Regime which is on the verge of its implementation will mark a paradigm shift in the manner of levy and collection of indirect taxes in the country and is a watershed moment in the annals of tax reform.
Pradip K Das, Director Finance and CFO, ITDC, welcomed the gathering and highlighted the proposed tax reform as a real game changer for expanding tax base, mobilize resources and also for minimizing regional disparities since it enables predominantly consumer states to raise resources for developmental activities. Das gave a detailed overview of the GST, the structure of GST Regime and the road map ahead for all stakeholders.
The GST consultants of ITDC in his inaugural address expressed that the country is on the threshold of change which is momentous and assured all stakeholders that all the concerns of trade and industry will be addressed to ensure smooth transition. They explained the various provisions of the model GST law and the implementation of the new GST law.
