Bhanu Chopra appointed as Co-Chair for ASSOCHAM’s National Council on Travel & Tourism

Chopra’s passion for combining technology with tourism will help redefine visitor experiences, drive innovation, and support the nation’s goal of making travel a key economic pillar

RateGain Travel Technologies Limited, a global leader in AI-powered SaaS solutions for the hospitality and travel industry on September 10 announced that its Founder and Managing Director, Bhanu Chopra, has been elected as Co-Chair of ASSOCHAM’s National Council on Travel & Tourism. With his extensive expertise, Chopra is deeply committed to integrating AI into travel, aligning his efforts with government initiatives that position India as a leader in AI-driven solutions. His passion for combining technology with tourism will help redefine visitor experiences, drive innovation, and support the nation’s goal of making travel a key economic pillar.

ASSOCHAM’s National Council on Travel & Tourism, under the leadership of its current Chairman, Sunjae Sharma, MD – India & Southwest Asia, Hyatt India Consultancy Pvt. Ltd., collaborates closely with the Central and State Tourism Ministries. This council addresses pressing concerns and promotes sustainable development within the travel, tourism, and hospitality sector

The travel and tourism industry, a vital contributor to India’s economy, is undergoing rapid transformation. This sector contributed 7.7% to India’s GDP in 2023 and has the potential to become a $3 trillion economy by 2047, capable of generating 200 million jobs. Bhanu’s election as Co-Chair comes at a time when India is capitalizing on its tech talent and tourism potential, positioning him to lead initiatives that attract more tourists to India.

Chopra on his appointment said, “Tourism has a huge multiplier effect on a nation’s economy, as one direct job in tourism can create multiple indirect jobs. Government of India envisions harnessing tourism and artificial intelligence (AI) as dual engines to drive India’s economic growth, positioning the country as a global leader in both sectors. With this ethos, we can harness this potential to drive sustainable growth, create new opportunities, and contribute significantly to the development of India’s travel and tourism sector.”

As Co-Chair, Chopra will leverage his extensive experience to lead initiatives that address the evolving needs of the travel industry, ensuring it remains resilient and competitive on the global stage.
