Cambodia-India Tourism Forum 2024 held to foster stronger tourism ties between the two countries

The forum’s aim was to discuss key strengths, opportunities, challenges, visions, and recommendations to further boost tourism between the two countries.

At the Borei Angkor Hotel, on October 31, 2024, HUOT Hak, Minister of Tourism, presided over the opening ceremony of the “Cambodia-India Tourism Forum 2024.”  The forum’s aim was to discuss key strengths, opportunities, challenges, visions, and recommendations to further boost tourism between the two countries.

In his opening remarks, the Minister highlighted that the “Cambodia-India Tourism Forum 2024” is part of the “First Cambodia-India Tourism Year 2024” campaign, which received high-level endorsement from Prime Minister Samdech Moha Bovor Thipadei HUN Manet, and was officially launched on June 17, 2024, in New Delhi, India, in conjunction with the launch of direct flights by Cambodia Angkor Air, and India’s Indigo Airlines, with direct connections between New Delhi-Phnom Penh and Kolkata-Siem Reap set to commence in February 2025.

The Minister also used the forum as an opportunity to encourage the Embassy of the Republic of India to Cambodia and private sectors from both countries to continue collaborating on events and promoting Cambodia’s real situation, security, culture, and diverse tourism potential across Indian media and social networks. This would enhance Cambodia’s image as a safe and attractive destination for Indian tourists.

Attendees at the forum included representatives from the Siem Reap Provincial Administration, the representative of the Ambassador of the Republic of India to Cambodia, as well as ministry officials, stakeholders from Cambodia and India totalling 400 people. 

On the occasion of the “Cambodia-India Tourism Forum 2024”, HUOT Hak, Minister of Tourism, also presided over the meeting with key stakeholders from Cambodia-India’s tourism market in Cambodia, with the participation of representatives from Siem Reap Administration, Embassy of the Republic of India to the Kingdom of Cambodia, tour operators, tourism companies, investors from both Cambodia and India, Indian community in Cambodia, India-Cambodia tour guides.

The meeting aims at presenting Cambodia’s current situation, emphasizing its full peace, stability, security, public order, and favourable conditions for foreign investors and international tourists, especially tourists from India.

The Minister calls on all stakeholders to disseminate real information about Cambodia, Cambodia’s rich tourist destinations and variety of events, both through the Embassy’s social media and social media mostly used in India and by Indian people. In closing, the minister called on all distinguished national and international guests to join the Ministry of Tourism in the campaign, “Each Person as an Ambassador of Cambodia-India’s Tourism; Tourism for All, and All for Tourism!
