For the development of tourism in the North East Region, special packages have been prepared by the government, informed K. Chiranjeevi, Union Minister for Tourism in a written reply to Rajyasabha today. The following plans have been laid out by the Government for development of tourism in North East Region, including Assam:-
This year the North East Region will be the theme of the India pavilion at the South Asia Travel & Tourism Exchange (SATTE).
Provision of complimentary space to the North Eastern States in India pavillions set up at major International travel fairs and exhibitions.
10 per cent of the annual plan allocation of the Ministry of Tourism mandatorily earmarked for releasing Central Financial Assistance (CFA) to the North Eastern States.
100 per cent CFA for organising fairs and festivals allowed only to the North Eastern states and the state of Jammu & Kashmir.
Television campaigns will be launched on various media channels.
A separate section on the North East Region will be included on the promotional website of the Ministry of Tourism, www.incredibleindia.org
Publicity material will be produced and distributed widely through India tourism offices in India and overseas.
