“Through the ‘Dekho Apna Desh – People’s Choice 2024’ campaign, Uttar Pradesh aims to engage citizens in identifying the state’s best religious, spiritual, cultural, historical, and natural heritage sites”- Yogi Adityanath, Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister
Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath has officially launched a state-wide mega campaign aligned with the Union Ministry of Tourism’s “Dekho Apna Desh – People’s Choice 2024” initiative. The campaign, which began in Ayodhya, invites citizens, representatives, and officials to vote for their favourite tourist destinations across Uttar Pradesh. Running until November 25, 2024, this campaign also encourages participants to share their selfie at designated points and upload them on the portal. Exceptional contributors will be rewarded with exciting prizes.
As part of the campaign, participants including students, members of youth tourism clubs, teachers, officials, and elected representatives can vote for their favourite destinations by scanning a QR code or filling out a form available at the link. They can also share their travel plans and experiences, helping to shape the future of tourism in Uttar Pradesh.
Highlighting Uttar Pradesh’s growing prominence on the global tourism map, the Chief Minister said, “Last year, Uttar Pradesh welcomed over 480 million tourists—almost twice the state’s population. The land of Lord Ram, Krishna, and Buddha continues to attract the highest number of domestic tourists in the country. Efforts are underway to achieve similar recognition among international tourists. To enhance visitors’ experiences, we are expanding facilities at tourist spots, roadside hotels, wedding venues, and eateries, while also improving connectivity at a rapid pace.”
The Chief Minister added, “Through the ‘Dekho Apna Desh – People’s Choice 2024’ campaign, Uttar Pradesh aims to engage citizens in identifying the state’s best religious, spiritual, cultural, historical, and natural heritage sites. The insights gathered will be instrumental in transforming these locations into world-class tourist destinations.”
To make participation engaging, selfie points are being set up at key locations in every district. Participants can upload photos and reels through QR codes at these sites, further enhancing the campaign’s visibility. Contributors with the most impactful participation will be recognized and rewarded.
Tourism and Culture Minister Jaiveer Singh emphasized that all district magistrates and divisional commissioners have been directed to ensure the campaign’s success. He added, “Influencers, bloggers, and other stakeholders are also actively participating to maximize the campaign’s outreach and impact.”
This initiative underscores Uttar Pradesh’s commitment to leveraging citizen feedback to elevate its tourist destinations to global standards, enhancing both the visitor experience and the state’s cultural legacy.
