Post the resumption of domestic commercial passenger flight operations from May 25, 2020, GVK MIAL managing Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj International Airport (CSMIA) catered to a total of 2,01,258 passengers which includes 1,40,878 at departures and 60,380 at arrivals. CSMIA has handled a total of 1744 domestic flights for the period from May 25 to June 24, operated by 10 airlines and catering to a total of 34 sectors in the country.
Amongst the destinations served, the airport saw the highest passenger load capacity on Mumbai – Delhi route, followed closely by Kolkata, Varanasi, and Patna, respectively.
Upon the revival of commercial domestic flight operations on May 25, the airport was permitted to operate 25 departures and 25 arrivals per day. With the recent grant by the Government of Maharashtra to double the commercial passenger flight movements, the airport saw a total of 06 new sectors added to their existing schedule. The sectors include Trivandrum, Coimbatore, Raipur, Udaipur, Jabalpur, and Jalgaon.
CSMIA has adopted numerous precautionary measures to help and support the passengers, including providing an efficient transit to its travellers. The airport has allowed check-in through E-boarding pass on cellular devices. Additionally, CSMIA has also placed stringent measures to screen drivers and fumigate the vehicles entering the airport premise.
