Dragonair has been voted “World’s Best Regional Airline” in the annual Skytrax World Airline Awards programme for the third time. No other airline has achieved this feat since this category was added to the awards in 2010. In a double honour for Dragonair, the carrier was also named “Best Regional Airline in Asia” in the same survey.
Patrick Yeung, Chief Executive Officer, Dragonair expressed his pride and pleasure at the award ceremony held at the Paris Air Show on today. “It is a great honour to receive such recognition from travellers, and on behalf of Dragonair I would like to extend my heartfelt thanks to everyone who voted for us. We are extremely proud to share this achievement with the people of Hong Kong, the city that has been our home for 28 years,” he said.
Yeung stated that the awards were a reflection of the great teamwork displayed by Dragonair staff. “Service and products play an important part in the overall passenger experience, and we are working hard to enhance these on every front. The huge investments we are making to provide superior products and services highlight our commitment to the long-term expansion and development of Dragonair, and to boosting the development of the Hong Kong hub,” Yeung added.
As part of a continuous effort to provide the best travel experience for its customers, Dragonair is embarking on a full-scale inflight product enhancement which will see the introduction of new Business Class and Economy Class cabins. In addition, Dragonair has also been busy expanding its network. The airline has launched or resumed 12 destinations since April 2012, marking the biggest expansion in the carrier’s history. “We will continue to expand our network and strengthen frequencies where possible, offering increased connectivity and greater convenience for customers travelling through Hong Kong,” Yeung said.
