Dudhwa Mahotsav will become a milestone in boosting tourism: Jaiveer Singh

Organized with the support of the Tourism Department, the festival aims to attract nature enthusiasts and tourists with a series of engaging event.

The Dudhwa Mahotsav 2024 will be inaugurated by Uttar Pradesh’s Tourism and Culture Minister, Jaiveer Singh, on November 25 at Dudhwa National Park in Lakhimpur Kheri district. Organized with the support of the Tourism Department, the festival aims to attract nature enthusiasts and tourists with a series of engaging events. Notably, this day will also mark the inauguration of air service for visitors travelling to Dudhwa, with the first flight from Lucknow’s Chaudhary Charan Singh Airport landing at Palia Airport.

As part of the festival, certificates will be distributed to the participants of the Nature Guide Training Program conducted by the Uttar Pradesh Eco-Tourism Development Board. The event will also feature a special screening of a documentary on Dudhwa National Park. Following this, the minister will address the gathering and later embark on a tiger safari within the park.

Highlighting the importance of the event, the minister stated, “Dudhwa Mahotsav 2024 is a significant opportunity to promote tourism in Uttar Pradesh. Through this festival, we aim to showcase the rich natural and cultural heritage of the state at national and international levels. This initiative will focus on biodiversity and sustainable tourism, setting a milestone in the state’s tourism development efforts.”

Dudhwa National Park, the state’s only national park, spans a core zone of 884 square kilometers and is renowned for its incredible biodiversity. The park is home to an array of rare trees, plants, grasses, and wildlife, including tigers, leopards, elephants, rhinoceroses, deer, reptiles, and birds, which captivate visitors with their beauty. The park’s enchanting landscapes and diverse flora and fauna continue to inspire repeat visits from tourists worldwide.

To support local communities, especially the Tharu tribe, priority is given to residents in tourism-related services. Currently, around 90 nature guides and 60 drivers are employed in the sector, with eco-development committees also providing opportunities to reduce forest dependency. These initiatives have created hundreds of jobs, showcasing the park’s role in community development alongside tourism.
