Foreign Tourist Arrivals (FTAs) in the country registered an increase of 20 lakhs during the month of November 2012 over the figure of November 2011. The numbers were recorded at 6.9 lakhs as compared to FTAs of 6.7 lakhs during the month of November 2011 and 6.08 lakhs in November 2010. FTAs during the period January- November 2012 were 58.99 lakhs with a growth of 5.9 per cent, over the same period in 2011, as compared to the FTAs of 55.72 lakhs with a growth of 9.4 per cent during January- November 2011 over the corresponding period of 2010.
Similarly Foreign Exchange Earnings (FEEs) from Tourism during the same period also showed an increase of 22.4 per cent. FEEs during the month of November 2012 were Rs.9,723 crores as compared to Rs.7,941 crores in November 2011 and Rs.6,516 crores in November 2010. FEEs from tourism in rupee terms during January- November 2012 were Rs.83,938 crores with a growth of 22.1 per cent over the same period in 2011, as compared to the FEEs of Rs.68,721 crores with a growth of 18.8 per cent during January-November 2011 over the corresponding period of 2010.
