The Foreign Tourist Arrivals (FTAs) grew by 13.4 per cent in March 2018 over March 2017. FTAs in March 2018 were 10.26 lakh as compared to 9.05 lakh in March 2017 registering a growth of 13.4 per cent. FTAs during the period January-March 2018 were 31.27 lakh as compared to 28.45 lakh in January-March 2017 registering a growth of 9.9%.
The percentage share of Foreign Tourist Arrivals in India during March 2018 among the top 15 source countries was highest from Bangladesh (19.59 per cent) followed by UK (11.56 per cent), USA (10.79 per cent), Russian Federation (3.89 per cent), Sri Lanka (3.72 per cent), Malaysia (3.36 per cent), Canada (3.35 per cent), Germany (3.19 per cent), China (2.67 per cent), Australia (2.62 per cent), France (2.58 per cent), Japan (2.11 per cent), Thailand (2.00 per cent), Singapore (1.64 per cent) and Afghanistan (1.60 per cent).
The percentage share of Foreign Tourist Arrivals in India during March 2018 among the top 15 ports was highest at Delhi Airport (30.68 per cent) followed by Mumbai Airport (14.31 per cent), Haridaspur Land Check Post (9.12 per cent), Chennai Airport (6.53 per cent), Goa Airport (4.87 per cent), Bengaluru Airport (4.73 per cent), Kolkata Airport (4.66 per cent), Cochin Airport (3.29 per cent), Sonauli Airport (2.45 per cent), Hyderabad Airport (2.39 per cent), Gede Rail Land Check Post (2.20 per cent), Amritsar Airport (1.65 per cent), Ghojadanga Land Check Post (1.40 per cent) Ahmedabad Airport (1.37 per cent), and Trivandrum Airport (1.21 per cent).
