The Centre has allocated Rs 2189.22 crore for tourism in 2019-20, as per the Expenditure Budget released by the government post the Interim Budget presented by the Acting Finance Minister Piyush Goyal. This is marginally higher than the Budget allocation of Rs 2113.48 crore for 2018-19.
Of the total allocation, the Budget proposes Rs 1448 crore for tourism infrastructure development and Rs 506.23 crore for publicity and promotion. While overseas promotion and publicity including Market Development Assistance has been allocated Rs 376.23 crore, domestic promotion and publicity including Market Development Assistance is allocated Rs 129.50 crore. The publicity and promotion Budget was Rs 543.63 crore for 2018-19.
