IHG OPENS CROWNE PLAZA IN AHMEDABAD

InterContinental Hotels Group (IHG) recently announced the opening of the 200-room Crowne Plaza Ahmedabad City Centre with Shiva Satya Hotels, which joins seven other hotels in the Crowne Plaza family in India.

The hotel is conveniently situated a short half-hour drive from the Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel International Airport and within close proximity to key business districts, increasing its draw as an accommodation of choice for business travellers.

“Ahmedabad has been identified by Forbes as one of the fastest growing cities in this decade and it is increasingly being recognised as the business hub of Gujarat, India. There is a market need for quality business hotels in Ahmedabad and we have every confidence the Crowne Plaza brand will be a big draw to guests travelling on business,” a senior representative from Shiva Satya Hotels said.

Pascal Gauvin, Chief Operating Officer, India, Middle East and Africa, IHG, said: “IHG has been in India for nearly 50 years and we have always been committed to growing in the market. We are very pleased to welcome Crowne Plaza Ahmedabad City Centre into our system and we look forward to delivering great experiences to our guests at the hotel. It is a privilege to be associated with Shiva Group in Ahmedabad.”

IHG currently has 19 hotels in India across four brands: InterContinental, Crowne Plaza, Holiday Inn and Holiday Inn Express, of which seven are Crowne Plaza hotels. The company has 47 hotels in its development pipeline; including seven Crowne Plaza hotels. Globally, IHG operates nearly 400 Crowne Plaza hotels and will add another 90 hotels (more than 25,000 rooms) to its system in the next three to five years.
