India ranks 2nd in tourist arrivals to the USA between January and May 2024

In May 2024, a remarkable 263,150 passengers travelled from India to the United States signifying a nearly 32% increase from the 199,364 arrivals in May 2023

As per data released by the United States National Travel and Tourism Office (NTTO), India has emerged as the second-largest international source market for travel to the United States for the period January to May 2024 (excluding Canada and Mexico) breaking all previous arrival records.

In May 2024, a remarkable 263,150 passengers travelled from India to the United States signifying a nearly 32% increase from the 199,364 arrivals in May 2023 and securing India’s position as the second highest market for visitors to the US in that month.

For arrivals in the USA between January – May 2024, India maintains its strong position, also in second place, with a total of 882,404 arrivals, behind only the United Kingdom. This represents a growth of 37.2% compared to the 643,270 Indian arrivals recorded during the same period in 2023. When including arrivals from Canada and Mexico, India ranks as the fourth largest source market for international visitors to the United States for the January – May 2024 period

The United States remains the top choice for Indian travellers seeking long-haul leisure destinations. The ongoing ICC Men’s T20 World Cup 2024, co-hosted by the USA, has attracted significant interest from Indian fans. In addition to the World Cup, other major sporting events, such as the upcoming FIFA World Cup 2026, are expected to draw even more visitors from India. The expected addition of new flights later this year will further make travel to the US even more accessible for Indian travellers.
