The Embassy of Japan in India introduced the processing of visa applications through external service provider in North India by formally inaugurating the Japan Visa Application Centre (JVAC). 15 million people in India travel overseas, and it is expected that the number will grow up to 50 million by the year 2020. Japan hopes more Indians will visit the country. VFS Global has been appointed to offer visa application centre service in New Delhi and collection facility in 8 Indian cities VFS Global also operates satellite acceptance centres for collection of Japanese visa applications in the northern cities of Chandigarh and Jalandhar, and collection centres in Agra, Amritsar, Dehradun, Guwahati, Jaipur and Ludhiana.VFS Global will be responsible for accepting and processing applications for Japan visas from applicants residing in India. All applications will continue to be assessed by The Embassy of Japan in New Delhi. The key features of the centre are longer operating hours, dedicated website for easy access, visa information, applicable fees and application status, professional and responsive staff dedicated to handle visa queries, dedicated call centre unit along-with a dedicated Japanese speaking helpline, email support and door-step delivery of passports. The service would attract a nominal service fee of INR 405, payable at the JVAC and collection centres at the time of submitting the application.
