Kerala capital Thiruvananthapuram among top 10 most trending places 2025: Global survey

Thiruvananthapuram showed a 66 per cent increase in flight searches between January 1, 2024, and June 30, 2024, for travel throughout this year compared to the same period in 2023. Notably, Skyscanner analysed over a thousand data points to compile the list of trending places.

Kerala capital has been placed in the 10th position in the list of the ‘Most Popular Places to Visit in 2025’, a survey by Skyscanner revealed. The Edinburg-headquartered flight and accommodation booking platform has collected the data based on the biggest increase in searches over the past 12 months for the happening hangouts.

The tourism board quotes the survey statistics saying Thiruvananthapuram showed a 66 per cent increase in flight searches between January 1, 2024, and June 30, 2024, for travel throughout this year compared to the same period in 2023.

The southern Italian seaside city of Reggio Calabria topped the list of the most popular places to travel in 2025, while Tartu in eastern Estonia took second place. Cambodia’s second-largest city, Siem Reap, came third. According to the survey, Thiruvananthapuram remains a popular destination for ‘Reset Jetters’ who want to focus on their health and well-being in what many believe to be the most beautiful, relaxing, and serene part of the country.

Tourism Minister P A Mohamed Riyas said it is a major recognition by the travel website for the novel tourism initiatives being implemented in the state in resonance with the changing tastes of travellers.

“In the modern era, tourists give priority to health and wellness packages apart from leisure activities. Kerala is an apt destination for them as our heritage, culture, balmy weather and picturesque landscape provide a unique experience for visitors,” he added.

Skyscanner analysed over a thousand data points to compile the list of trending places. The survey adds that alternative destinations are growing in popularity with UK travellers, who are looking to explore beyond mainstream Europe and further afield. Baltimore (USA), Portsmouth (Dominica), Cordoba (Spain), Tromso (Norway), Panglao, Bohol (The Philippines) and Stuttgart (Germany) are the other cities being featured in the top 10 list.

More than 100 million people worldwide are using Skyscanner’s app and website.
