Mauritius Tourism Promotion Authority (MTPA) and Air Mauritius recently organised a presentation and seminar in Mumbai for the travel trade in the city. According to Vivek Anand, Country Manager – India, MTPA, the destination has seen a 6.8 per cent increase in Indian arrivals in 2014. He further highlighted that there has been an 8.5 per cent growth in footfall from the market since Om Tourism stepped in as the destination’s marketing representatives last year.
Speaking about their expectations from 2015, Anand explained that the numbers should be similar to this year, with an upward trend later in the year following Air Mauritius’ increased frequencies from Mumbai commencing April end. Overall, the airline will operate three flights from Mumbai, two from New Delhi and one from Bengaluru via Chennai to Mauritius, adding seven flights a week to their current portfolio.
Furthermore, in the months of May and June, in a bid to service the increased holiday traffic during the period, the airline will operate five flights from Mumbai, an Air Mauritius representative said.
At the seminar, MTPA and Air Mauritius were supported by their hotel partners, Starwood, The Residence, Sun Resorts, Constance Hotels and Beachcomber Hotels.
