Continuing its focus on attracting foreign tourists to Maharashtra, a Memorandum of Understanding was signed between Maharashtra and Wakayama in the presence of Prithviraj Chavan, Minister of Maharashtra, Yoshinobu Nisaka , Governor of Wakayama, Japan and Chhagan Bhujbal, Maharashtra Tourism Minister.
Also present during the occasion were, Radhakrishna Vikhe-Patil, Minister for Agriculture, Suresh Shetty, Minister for Protocol, S.K. Goyal, Additional Chief Secretary (Agriculture), Sumit Mullick, Additional Chief Secretary (Tourism), GoM, and Kiyoshi Asako, Consul General of Japan.
The MoU shall create cooperation between both states for expansion of tourism ties to enhance economic growth and job creation from expanded tourism ties. Both regions have also agreed to promote agro and food processing between local enterprises through existing framework. This MoU will expand the mutual economic relationship in the fields of Tourism and Agro-food processing.
