Norwegian Cruise Line Holdings Ltd. has announced the opening of the company’s first two offices in India and has appointed a dedicated local team to drive forward the regional growth for the company’s three brands – the contemporary freestyle cruising brand, Norwegian Cruise Line (NCL), the upper-premium cruise line, Oceania Cruises (OCI) and the all-inclusive luxury line, Regent Seven Sea Cruises (RSSC).
The new India offices in New Delhi and Mumbai will represent a major base of operations in support of the three brands and features key sales functions to serve travel agents across the region. The service recognises that travel agent partners are uniquely placed to support and capitalise on NCLH’s growth in the region.
Steve Odell, Senior Vice President and Managing Director Asia Pacific, NCLH said, “Asia is an increasingly important market for Norwegian Cruise Line Holdings. Cruise tourism in the region is growing at double-digit rates; the demand is increasing from both cruise passengers from India and the rest of Asia, and international travellers are seeking to experience Asian destinations. With the new offices, we will be able to better support our travel partners, forge new mutually-beneficially partnerships, and provide our valued Indian guests a range of enhanced services, for passengers seeking cruise holiday experiences across the spectrum – from contemporary to luxury and short sailings to world voyages.”
Harry Sommer, Executive Vice President, International Business Development, NCLH added, “Today marks an exciting day in the history of our company, with the launch of our India offices representing our commitment to expanding local operations, and further strengthening our presence in Asia – which includes offices in China, Hong Kong, Singapore and Tokyo.”
The launch in India is further strengthened by the return of the company’s contemporary premium brand, NCL, to Asia for the first time since 2002. Norwegian Star will make Mumbai a seasonal homeport with its maiden call in November 2016 and offer two sailings till March 2017. With Mumbai’s position as a popular tourist destination, India is a leading choice for cruise passengers and strategically located for short and long voyage itineraries.
Also, Regent Seven Seas Cruises’ Voyager arrived in Mumbai as part of her Taste of the East (Singapore to Dubai) sojourn, which commenced in Singapore and will end in Dubai in the coming month.
